About us

A welcoming community of faith in Kenmore

We’re glad you’re here.

At Kenmore Uniting Church, we are a community of people learning to follow Jesus and share His love in everyday life. Whether you’re exploring faith, returning to church, or looking for a place to belong, you are warmly welcome.

Sharing God’s Love in Action

Our life together is shaped by a simple calling: to love God and care for others. We express this through creative, caring, and compassionate ministry — supporting one another, serving our community, and creating spaces where people can connect and grow.

We have a strong focus on pastoral care and the arts, offering opportunities for both spiritual and social connection in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Our Mission

Our mission is to grow as followers of Jesus and share His love with others. We live this out by:

• Supporting people in need through local outreach and care programs
• Creating opportunities for connection through the arts and community events
• Encouraging spiritual growth for people of all ages
• Serving with heart, mind, and soul in our local community

We aim to be a place where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and encouraged to explore faith in their own way.

Our Place in the Wider Church

Kenmore Uniting Church is part of the Uniting Church in Australia, a national church formed in 1977. We are part of a wider movement that seeks to follow Jesus, work for justice, and live with love, grace, and hope in the world.

Our Story

Faith, community, and creativity through the years

As the Kenmore community grew in the 1960s, so did the church. A new church and hall were designed by architect Robin Gibson and completed in 1968, later receiving the Queensland Chapter of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects “Building of the Year” award.

In 1977, the congregation became part of the Uniting Church in Australia, continuing a long tradition of worship, service, and community connection.

The Pioneer Church

A cherished part of our heritage

Built in 1885, the Pioneer Church is a treasured part of our story. Originally located near the junction of Kenmore Road and Brookfield Road, it was moved to our current site in 1968. Today, this heritage-listed building continues to host gatherings, weddings, and special events.

It is also home to the InSpired Art Gallery, a space for small exhibitions that encourage creativity, reflection, and community connection.

Preserving Local History

We are proud to help preserve the history of the Kenmore district.

“Tell the Next Generation,” first published in 1985, shares the story of the area from the 1840s onwards. A digital edition is available, including the original text, photographs, and a detailed index for local and family history research.

By sharing these stories, we honour the past while continuing to build community for the future.

Copies are available through the Refreshed Shop at the church. By preserving and sharing this history, we continue our mission of creativity, care, and connection, telling the story of God’s work in this community and passing it on to future generations.

“We will tell the next generation about the Lord’s power and His great deeds and the wonderful things He has done.”
— Psalm 78:4
